Alumni Mentoring

Alumni Mentoring Program

The alumni mentor program is a collaborative partnership between alumni mentors and undergraduate mentees, with a primary emphasis on career development and transitioning to post-college life. There are two options to engage in mentoring with Gettysburg College students and alumni.

Micro Mentoring

Support current students and strengthen your own Gettysburg network through micro mentoring. You can be available to casually connect with students who are looking for impactful insights about career paths, industries, company cultures, skills needed to be a competitive candidate, graduate schools, and more! connectGettysburg is our exclusive platform designed for focused networking, informational interviewing, and conducting in-depth career and major research.

Formal Mentoring Program

A structured program that pairs one student with one alumni mentor for an academic year to provide personalized guidance for a career and life beyond college. Alumni can expect to spend an average of 1 - 2 hours a month as they work with their mentee to meet program benchmarks. The inaugural program will be open to the Class of 2027.

The focus of each mentor/mentee pairing will greatly depend on the needs of the student mentee. Possible focuses may include:

■ Career Exploration: Alumni mentors may leverage their industry experience to help mentees identify their career interests, set realistic goals, and develop strategies for achieving them.

■ Transition Support: Mentoring may focus beyond college life to support mentees in transitioning to the workforce or graduate/professional studies.

■ Networking Resources:Alumni mentors may facilitate and offer strategies on professional networking opportunities for mentees, leveraging their alumni connections and industry networks.

■ Industry Insights and Trends: Mentors may share valuable industry insights, trends, and practical advice based on their professional experiences. They may help mentees stay informed about industry changes, emerging opportunities, and potential challenges.
