Career Connections Mentorship Program Launches

Career Connections Mentorship Program Launches

As Gettysburg College expands its commitment to student mentoring throughout every aspect of the undergraduate experience, CWI has launched a Career Connections Mentorship Program for students involved in the Civil War Era Studies and Public History minors. Students in these two minors are matched with a Career Connections mentor working in the field of Civil War history or public history. Mentors are available to students to offer field-specific advice regarding good interviewing practices, resumes and cover letters, job skills, and career opportunities. Further expanding the Gettysburg commitment to mentorship, Career Connections mentors serve as a professional sounding board for students, supporting them in broadening their career horizons and identifying paths for developing their interests.

The Career Connections program builds on the professional networks undergirding CWI’s Funded Internships Program, which supports professional development and career exploration for students with a broad range of academic interests. It will provide yet another layer of support for students’ development as the next generation of working professionals, expanding their professional networks and providing meaningful personal connections with practitioners who are well-positioned to support their entry into the field. Diverse in composition, the program encompasses participants working in many different aspects of the history/public history/ Civil War field, and at a wide range of stages in their own careers, and includes many successful Gettysburg College alumni.
