The Dr. Ralph Cavaliere Endowed Teaching Award
The Dr. Ralph Cavaliere Endowed Teaching Award, previously named the Student Senate Faculty Appreciation Award, is presented annually during Fall Honors Day to a full–time faculty member who exhibits excellence in teaching.
The winner for the 2024-2025 academic year is Brendan Cushing-Daniels, Associate Professor.
Dr. Robert E. Dutton, Class of 1946 Memorial Mentorship Award
The Dr. Robert E. Dutton, Class of 1946 Memorial Mentorship Award is given to a faculty member who demonstrates excellence in advising and mentoring students. This award is presented at the final faculty meeting of the academic year.
The winner for the 2023-2024 academic year is Stephen Stern, Associate Professor of Jewish Studies and Interdisciplinary Studies.
The Luther W. and Bernice L. Thompson Distinguished Teaching Award
The Luther W. and Bernice L. Thompson Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member who has come to Gettysburg within the past several years and whose teaching is recognized as outstanding by faculty colleagues. Each year, after a careful review of the teaching of all recent candidates for tenure, the Faculty Personnel Committee recommends one faculty member to receive the Thompson Teaching Award. This award is presented at the final faculty meeting of the academic year.
The winner for the 2023-2024 academic year is Alice Brawley Newlin, Associate Professor of Management.
Bruce S. Gordon ’68 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Teaching Excellence Prize
Established by Bruce S. Gordon ’68 along with fellow classmates, friends, and supporters, the Bruce S. Gordon ’68 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Teaching Excellence Prize recognizes a Gettysburg College faculty member who stands out as having advanced a campus climate that is supportive of differences in the classroom or beyond.
A call for nominations is submitted by Faculty, staff, and students. The Provost's Office in collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer select the recipient of the award from the pool of nominations. This award is presented at the final faculty meeting of the academic year.
The winner for the 2023-2024 academic year is Jennifer Bloomquist, Professor of Africana Studies.
