We will issue a 2022 tax receipt for an online gift if it is submitted by Dec. 31, 2022 at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). A gift made online after 11:59 p.m. EST will be issued a 2023 tax receipt. To make your gift online, please use the secure, online giving form.

If you wish to make a credit card gift over the phone, you must call 1-800-238-5528 by Friday, December 30, 2022 at 12 pm EST in order to ensure timely processing and 2022 tax deduction eligibility. If you want to make a gift after that please use the secure, online giving form.

IRS regulations consider a credit card gift as having been made at the moment it is processed. Therefore, mailed-in credit card gifts must be received by Friday, December 30, 2022. If you do not think your mailed gift will be received by our deadline please use the secure, online giving form.

We will issue a 2022 tax receipt for a gift if it is postmarked on or before Dec. 31, 2022 or the check is dated on or before Dec. 31, 2022. Mail your gift to:

Office of Annual Giving
300 N. Washington Street
Gettysburg College
Box 426
Gettysburg, PA 17325

The IRS requirements are different if you have check-writing privileges with your Individual Retirement Account and wish to have your gift counted as a qualified charitable distribution in 2022. In those cases, your check must clear the bank and be presented to your IRA administrator in time for them to transfer funds out of your IRA account by Dec. 31, 2022. It is not adequate to sign and mail the check by Dec. 31. Therefore, such IRA gifts should have arrived at Gettysburg by Dec. 10, 2022, so they can clear the banking system and your administrator’s accounting system by Dec. 31.

We will issue a tax receipt for a gift if it is received in Gettysburg’s account by Dec. 31, 2022. Those arriving after Dec. 31 will be receipted in 2023. If your intention is to make a gift, please make your gift early enough to allow time for the securities to be received by Gettysburg in advance of the Dec. 31, 2022 cut-off.

These transfer instructions will help you make your gift.
