Frequently asked questions
Why a new website?
- Websites need to evolve over time to remain accurate, accessible, easy to use, and easy to find.
- Direct feedback from our website visitors has helped shape the new design and architecture.
Will the web address change?
- We are dropping use of www for our primary site, but if you use www, you'll still arrive at the right place.
- We'll have redirects set up for pages that have new addresses, so your bookmarks should continue to take you where you need to go without any changes on your part.
- Some of the content for our internal audiences will move into the intranet, and a College account will be needed to access them.
Will application, visit registration, and giving links still work?
- Yes!
How will I find things without a bookmark?
- We have several suggestions -- try one or try a combination of them as you get used to navigating the new site.
- There will be landing pages built for our audiences with lots of helpful links. Find your page in the "Information for" menu when you click the menu / search icon at the top of the new site.
- Most of our site visitors use already use site search to find their destinations. This is set up for our new site and will even help students, faculty, and staff find intranet content. You'll access site search by clicking the menu / search icon at the top of each page.
- Our most commonly-accessed content will still have easy links at the top of each page and at the bottom of each page.
What if I have a problem finding things, or something is wrong with a page?
- If you experience a broken page link, feel free to tell us by completing the simple online form on our error page.
- Our internal communities can reach the web team by submitting requests at gettysburg.edu/web-help.
