Gettysburg College, Lancaster University launch international postgraduate partnership

This partnership between Gettysburg College and Lancaster University in Lancaster, United Kingdom, guarantees admission into master’s programs for qualifying Gettysburg graduates.

Gettysburg College is proud to announce its first-ever international postgraduate partnership with Lancaster University, a top 10 university in the United Kingdom targeted by the region’s leading employers. Building bridges abroad, this partnership allows Gettysburg graduating students and alumni to seamlessly transition into one of Lancaster’s 80-plus master’s programs, including their flagship Master of Business Administration program through its Triple Crown-accredited Management School.

Gettysburg graduates who meet GPA thresholds are guaranteed admissions, in addition to being guaranteed a place in student residences at a Lancaster University-owned or -managed property. Gettysburg College students and alumni will also have access to the Lancaster scholarship package. If applicants meet the eligibility criteria, scholarships will be automatically awarded.

“Lancaster University is delighted to expand and strengthen our longstanding relationship with Gettysburg College. As a research-intensive institution that prioritizes excellence in teaching, we value the exchange of ideas and perspectives that comes from working closely with Gettysburg,” said Prof. Simon Guy, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Global at Lancaster University. “Our partnership dates back over 25 years, during which time we have benefited greatly from conversation with students and faculty who have visited Lancaster to share in teaching, learning, and research. We look forward to continuing this tradition, and to welcoming more Gettysburg students and alumni into our classrooms in the years ahead.”

Every year, Gettysburg College’s Interdisciplinary Study Abroad Program in the United Kingdom, hosted at Lancaster University, provides Gettysburg undergraduate students hands-on opportunities to grow cross-cultural skills, gain broader global perspectives, and build strong international networks and friendships. In Fall 2024, Civil War Institute Director and Interdisciplinary Studies Prof. Ian Isherwood ’00 led the program’s pre-term seminar, exploring the impact of the World Wars on modern-day Britain. This fall’s seminar, overseen by English Prof. Joanne Myers, examined how the countryside remains central to British identity.

“This postgraduate partnership with Lancaster University is the result of a longstanding relationship between our two institutions,” said Gettysburg College Provost Jamila Bookwala. “We’re excited to witness even more Gettysburg graduates succeed at a top-ranked research university in the United Kingdom and ultimately go on to contribute meaningfully in their careers and in their communities.”
