Every year, as part of a College commitment to learn from our past to inspire the future, we come together with the surrounding community to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The 38th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration was held on the first day of the spring semester, January 22, at Christ Chapel.

The occasion was marked by reverence for Dr. King’s legacy, passionate remarks about how we can carry his message forward, and music capturing the transcendent power of our collective work.
View pictures from the event, which included performances by the Biglerville High School Jazz Band, Gettysburg High School Chorus, the renowned Morgan State University Choir, and The Chamber Chorale of the Gettysburg Children’s Choir led by Prof. Brent Talbot.
The annual Living the Dream Award and the Adams County Career Aid Project (ACCAP) Appreciation Award were presented at the event to recognize the diverse contributions of community members.
Dr. Mary Frances Berry, who served as Chairperson of the US Civil Rights Commission from 1993-2004, gave the keynote remarks.
“Each generation has to make its own dent in the wall of justice,” Berry said. “Let us organize as you have [tonight] to do the work that must be done."
The annual celebration is hosted by the College in partnership with SCCAP’s Adams County Career Aid Project and The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration committee.
