Gettysburg College rose to the challenge!
During the College's third annual Gettysburgives Challenge on February 15-16, gifts from generous donors poured in via phone, email, the web, and surface mail—all in support of Gettysburg students.
The Challenge set an ambitious goal of obtaining gifts from 2,558 donors (symbolically, one gift for every student currently enrolled) in order to receive an additional $475,000 from loyal Gettysburg benefactors Barry ’65 and Barbara Wenger Shaw ’65; Paul Haldeman ’67 P’19; David Brennan ’75 P’00; Steve Cloetingh ’81; Bob Garthwait ’82; Stewart Petrovits ’91; Michael Beinenson ’01; Jake Asplundh ’10; and Nick and Joelle Corcoran P’18.
We're proud to report that we've once again exceeded our fundraising goals, earning gifts from 2,631 donors, including 47 sustaining gifts, totaling $608,981 in new gifts, pledge payments, and commitments. Add in the $475,000 match donated by our alumni and parents, and we raised a grand total of $1,083,981 for Gettysburg College!
As part of the Gettysburgives Challenge, we also held two successful sub-challenges. For the Decade Challenge, the 60s are currently ahead, and the Bullets baseball team has a narrow lead in the Captains’ Challenge. Stay tuned for our final results!
Over the past three years, Gettysburg College has raised more than $3.51 million through our Gettysburgives Challenge. All funds immediately benefit our students—through research with faculty, enhanced learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom, and so many other ways.
