Prof. Marta Robertson’s proposal selected for AMS/Library of Congress Lecture

Sunderman Conservatory of Music Prof. Marta Robertson’s proposal, “The Uncommon ‘Gift to be Simple’: Japanese American Influence in Appalachian Spring,” has been chosen for the Spring 2020 American Musicological Society (AMS)/Library of Congress Lecture.

The AMS/Library of Congress Lecture Series provides a public forum for American Musicological Society members to present musicological research of exceptional merit based on unique collections in the Music Division of the Library of Congress. All members are encouraged to submit lecture proposals.

The AMS/Library of Congress Lectures will highlight musicological research conducted in the Division's collections. Each speaker will present on their particular topic of musical research. Lectures will be presented at the Library’s Madison Building on April 16,& 2019, at 9 p.m. Lectures will also be made available as webcasts on the websites of the AMS and Library of Congress. The winner is selected by the AMS Committee on Communications.
