College Life has pulled together many of the student leadership positions available for students into this one simple process. Please review the available positions and timelines. Please note that there are three phases of the process with positions having one of three application deadlines.

Phase 1 Participating Department and Timeline:
Garthwait Leadership Center (GLC)
- Leadership Educators (LE): Leadership Educators empower students to develop their leadership skills for public purpose. LEs are trained and paid to design and facilitate leadership programs to support their peers’ discovery and growth of their authentic selves. LEs are placed on student-driven project teams that are the base of the culture and operations of the Garthwait Leadership Center. Importantly, LEs engage in more than 160 hours annually of impactful learning experiences in a focus area (Coaching, Facilitation, and/or Outdoor Leadership) while receiving expert coaching and mentorship, as well as connecting with a welcoming community.
PHASE 1 Timeline:

- PHASE 1 application materials due: Sunday, January 25, 2026
- PHASE 1 interviews (conducted with individual departments): Monday, February 2 - Friday, March 13, 2026
- PHASE 1 offers extended: Thursday, February 19, 2026
- PHASE 1 deadline to accept or decline offers for positions: Monday, February 23, 2026
Phase 2 Participating Departments and Timeline:
Center for Public Service (CPS)
- Program Coordinators (PC): Program Coordinators inspire and organize volunteer action for social justice on campus and in the community. PCs are placed with a non-profit organization or project and provide ongoing student involvement to their partner agency by developing and implementing programs, as well as supporting volunteers through education and reflection. PCs also create a personal learning plan to further explore some aspect of their community work.
- 21st CCLC Site Teacher: The Site Teacher will implement program plans, coordinate, and maintain the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant-funded afterschool program that serves district/community students in El Centro and Vida Charter School sites. The Site Teacher will support in the coordination and implementation of curriculum, recruit volunteers, and support assessment of the program.
Residential Education (ResEd)
- Community Advisors (CA): Community Advisors live in an upperclass hall and serve as liaisons and resources to their sophomore, junior, and senior residents. CAs facilitate the Sophomore Success Program (SSP) for sophomore residents.
- House Leaders (HL): House Leaders live in College Houses and serve as liaisons and resources to their sophomore, junior, and senior residents. HLs facilitate the Sophomore Success Program (SSP) for sophomore residents. House Leaders also host campus-wide programs.
- Resident Assistants (RA): Resident Assistants live in a first-year residence hall and serve as liaisons and resources to their First-Year residents. RAs facilitate the First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) program—Community Meetings and G-Chats.
All ResEd student staff positions are being advertised through one job application in Handshake. ResEd student staff members oversee a residential area, support residents’ well-being and involvement in curricular & co-curricular pursuits, and ensure residents’ safety. ResEd student staff also support community building through programming and through G-Chats (for First-Year and sophomore residents).

Phase 3 Participating Departments and Timeline:
Center for Public Service (CPS)
- Immersion Project (IP) Leaders: Immersion Projects are off-campus, educational opportunities at sites in the United States and abroad which take place over Winter and Spring Breaks, which foster dialogue between students and the host community around issues of social justice. IP Leaders help create these transformative learning experience for the participants by both developing and implementing the pre-trip curriculum to prepare students for the experience and leading participants on the trip itself.
International Student Services (ISS)
- International Orientation Leaders (IOL): International Orientation Leaders help mentor new international students from the time they deposit in mid-May to their arrival on campus and through International Student Orientation. IOLs are essential in advising incoming international students on the cultural and academic transition to Gettysburg College. During the summer, IOLs will help answer questions in the new student WhatsApp group and through a series of virtual workshops. IOLs also have the honor of being one of the first Gettysburgians our new students meet, as they arrive early to campus in the fall and travel to nearby airports and train stations to pick up incoming students. After traveling back with them to campus, the IOLs will help the new students settle in to their rooms and first few days on campus. During International Student Orientation, IOL’s attend all program elements and support ISS staff in facilitating many activities, ranging from campus and town tours, to student panels, and evening social activities.
Office of Multicultural Engagement (OME)
- Orientation Ambassadors (OA): Orientation Ambassadors are volunteers in OME’s Pre-Orientation program. They lead small groups of first-year students, helping them acclimate to campus life before the arrival of the rest of their class.
