PARTNERED RESOLUTION

At the discretion of the Director of Student Activities & Greek Life, a student organization may be given the opportunity to conduct an internal investigation into alleged violations of College policies. If the organization accepts the opportunity to conduct this investigation, the Director of Student Activities & Greek Life, in consultation with the student organization’s leadership, advisors, and/or headquarters if applicable, will establish an investigation scope and timeline based on the alleged violations.

By the end of the established timeline, the student organization must conduct an investigation and submit a written report to the Director of Student Activities & Greek Life. The report must include:

  • The process by which information was collected during the investigation;
  • A summary of the information discovered during the investigation including any documentation (ex. images, screenshots, emails, etc.) that was used to inform the summary;
  • If the organization bares any responsibility for the violation(s) and if so recommendations on what sanctions should be applied to the organization as a result;
  • The names of any individuals that were identified as being involved in the alleged violation; and
  • Any internal disciplinary action the organization has or will implement for those individuals.

The Director of Student Activities & Greek Life or their designee will review the report and will make one of the following determinations:

  • The report is complete and a resolution meeting can be scheduled;
  • The report is insufficient or incomplete in which case feedback, further instructions, and a new timeline for completion will be provided to the student organization; or

The student organization intentionally provided inaccurate or incomplete information, did not make a good faith effort to engage in the investigative process, intentionally obstructed the process, or was otherwise non-compliant with the process and a resolution meeting can be scheduled where the original alleged violations and an allegation of failure to comply will be reviewed.

During the resolution meeting, the Director of Student Activities & Greek Life or their designee will meet with the student organization’s leadership, advisors, and/or headquarters representative, if applicable, and will make one of the following determinations:

  • There was no policy violation on the part of the student organization and the resolution process is complete.
  • The organization accepts responsibility for all violations and the Director or their designee accepts that determination in which case sanctions will be applied to the organization without the need for further resolution processes.
  • The organization accepts responsibility for some but not all violations and the Director or their designee accepts that determination in which case sanctions will be applied to the organization based on the violations they accepted responsibility for without the need for further resolution processes.
  • The organization accepts responsibility for some or none of the violations and the Director or their designee does not accept that determination in which case there may be further Page 4 of 9
    investigation into the incident by the College and determining if the organization is responsible for a violation of College policy will be resolved through conduct resolution option.

Regardless of the determination of the organization’s responsibility in the incident, the names of individuals identified as being involved in the alleged violation and the investigative report will be forwarded to the Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities who may start a conduct resolution processes for those individuals as outlined in the Community Standards
