Parent's Guide to IFC Fraternity Recruitment

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) utilizes a very informal recruitment structure to acquire new members. Gettysburg is home to 9 IFC chapters all connected with an inter/nationally affiliated organization. While the IFC recruitment process is informal, interested men must still register online, pay a $20 registration fee and meet basic eligibility standards. IFC fraternities can choose to take new members in both the fall and spring semesters, and that decision is made independently by each fraternity.

IFC Eligibility Standards

  • Students must achieve at least sophomore academic standing as determined by the Registrar's Office
  • Students must maintain at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA at the time of recruitment
    • An appeal process is available to interested men who have a 2.20-2.49 cumulative GPA
  • Students must have no more than 4 points through the College's conduct process
