President Carl Hanson 1961-1977
C. Arnold Hanson, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University, was installed as Gettysburg College’s 10th president early in 1962. Hanson served the college with modesty, forbearance, and tact from 1961 until 1977.
