Academic Excellence: Select Accomplishments

  • The faculty voted to adopt a new general education curriculum that will go into effect in 2028.
  • Secured funding for the Quantitative Reasoning Lab that will be available in Fall 2023.
  • Launched the Master’s in American History program.

A Transformational and Integrated Student Experience: Select Accomplishments

  • Developed and launched the Gettysburg Approach, which includes the Guided Pathways and Personal Advising Teams.
  • Implemented Navigate to aid in early alerts and retention initiatives.
  • Developed and implemented a comprehensive student retention strategic plan, initiatives this year included implementing Navigate, hiring a student accessibility specialist, and developing a class advisor model.
  • Strengthened career services and employment pipelines by hiring a Director of External Relations and launching a faculty liaison program.

A Culture of Belonging and Wellness: Select Accomplishments

  • Received an HHMI Inclusive Excellence grant to expand inclusive pedagogy.
  • Completed the Campus Climate Survey and held facilitated sessions throughout the academic year.
  • Reorganized the student-facing diversity offices on campus to better align support and resources through the Inclusion and Belonging Department.
  • Updated the Diversity and Inclusion mission statement.
  • Developed new Bias Response and Education Protocol, introduced Fall 2023.
  • Updated the College Name Policy (not chosen) for both students and employees.
  • Received an “It’s on Us” grant from the Department of Education to reduce sexual misconduct on campus.
  • Integrated previous BARC and IDEA Council members into a new D & I Advisory Committee, with open membership to faculty and staff.
  • Developed and implemented a management development program for employees.
  • Hired an Executive Director of Counseling and Wellness and developed a campus-wide wellness taskforce.

Institutional Effectiveness: Select Accomplishments

  • Began the Middle States review process in anticipation of the self-study in Fall 2023.
  • Developed a 3-year deferred maintenance plan.
  • Led a NCAA Program review to successful completion.
  • Led a federal program review to successful completion.
  • Received the largest number of applications in the College’s history.
  • Developed the College’s Strategic Direction and Gettysburg Approach.
  • Produced and presented the first-ever Ken Burns Film Festival.
  • Raised more than $23M in new gifts, commitments, and estate intentions, an increase over last year and the largest result of the last five years.
  • Raised $4M for the Gettysburg Fund, the fourth year it has exceeded the $4M mark.
  • Launched enhanced marketing initiatives to expand reach and awareness in key markets.
  • Raised a record-setting $1.1M for the Orange and Blue fund.
  • Began preliminary comprehensive campaign initiatives including feasibility study interviews with leadership gift prospects; philanthropic survey to major gift prospects; an all-alumni attitudinal survey; draft case statement; and presidential visits with feasibility study interviewees.
