The English honors program provides an opportunity and a challenge for senior English majors who have demonstrated exceptional ability during their first three years of study. It allows for the intensive study of a literary topic of particular interest to the student.
- Each spring, the faculty of the English Department invites junior majors with the strongest records in English courses to participate in the honors program during their senior year.
- Working closely with a faculty advisor, each honors student does independent research and writes a thesis on the topic of their choosing.
Majors who complete the honors program (and the rest of their major) with distinction are awarded honors in English at graduation.
