As an undergraduate, Irene Hawkins studied Education and Biology at Colgate University.  She earned her Master of Science (Biology) from Shippensburg University. Irene has been teaching at Gettysburg College for over a decade, in the Environmental Studies and Biology departments. Her academic interests include how populations interact with the environment, human-induced changes to the environment, as well as human-released environmental stressors and toxins that affect human health.  Irene strives to get all students actively thinking about their role in the environment and their personal impact on this place we call home.
