Prof. Brawley Newlin has always been intrigued by people and questions that don't fit neatly within traditional workplace research. Her research focuses on unique work populations, like gig workers and family microbusinesses. She also conducts research on statistical and methodological issues, like common method variance and heteroscedasticity. She teaches mostly Introductory Statistics, Advanced Business Statistics (offered as a senior capstone), and The Gig Economy (also a senior capstone). Depending on the semester, you might also find her teaching Research Methods or Work Motivation; and she enjoys advising students who are eager to take on the challenge of an Independent Study Research credit.
Outside the classroom, Prof. BN is (still) a big stats nerd, a mom, a dog person (cats also OK), a crafter, and a reader. She would love to see pictures of your pets and crafts, talk through your research ideas, or compare favorite statistical equations.
