The Department of Theatre Arts and The Sunderman Conservatory of Music present one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Based on a storyline from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story centers around the racial tension of rival gangs in New York City and how two young lovers from colliding worlds attempt to transform the menace of the streets by uniting with "One Hand, One Heart". Production Design by Jerome O. Hanson, conducted by John "Buzz" Jones, vocal direction by Kathleen Sasnett, and Choreography by Julie Herber.
