Six Seniors are chosen annually by their peers as Linnaean Award recipients. They are honored for their efforts to improve the campus community, excellent in academic endeavors, and overall achievements during their college careers. The Linnaean Award is sponsored by the Alumni Association, Student Alumni, and the Student Senate. The awards were presented to the winners during Fall Honors Day held on Family Weekend.

Biographies of 2018 Linnaean Award Winners

Joey Artemiou, a Biology major with a Chemistry minor, is involved in Residential and First Year Programs, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field, and the Green Dot Club. In addition he is a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and Habitat for Humainty on campus. Joey works in Gettysburg's Chemistry department and was a Summer Research Intern at the University of Virginia in 2018. He has been named to the Dean's List and is the Vice President of Omicron Delta Kappa.

Michael DeFeo, a Political Science major, is involved in Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Garthwait Leadership Center. In addition he works in Gettysburg's Political Science Department and traveled with the Center for Public Service to Volunteer in Leon, Nicaragua. Michael has been named to the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, the Dean's List, and the Order of Omega

J. Bailey Heath, a Mathematics and Psychology double major, is involved in Residential and First Year Programs, the Gettysburg Honor Commission, and the Garthwait Leadership Center. In addition he works for both the Mathematics and Psychology departments and is one of Gettysburg's X-SIG summer research students. Bailey received the Malcolm R. Dougherty Mathematical Award and was recognized as a Promising Foreign Language Scholar, as well as being named to the Dean's List.

Bekah Hurwitz, a Psychology and Organization and Management Studies double major, is involved in Residential and First Year Programs, Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and Hillel at Gettysburg College. In addition she is a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, the Challah for Hunger Coordinator, and the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference Group Facilitator. Bekah works in the Psychology and OMS departments and is a member of Psychology's academic honor society, Psi Chi. She received the Gettysburg College Emerging Leader Award, was the 2018 Convocation speaker, and has been named to the Dean's List.

Christina Noto, a History major with Peace and Justice Studies and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies minors, is involved in Residential and First Year Programs, the Garthwait Leadership Center, and Student Senate. In addition she led a Center for Public Service immersion project in El Paso, TX, was a CPS Fellow in Omaruru, Namibia, and an El Centro tutor in Gettysburg. Christina works in the History department, is a member of the History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, and is Vice President of the Peace and Justice Studies Council. She is the recipient of the John Alfred Hamme Award.

Teal Tasker, a Health Studies major with an Educational Studies minor, is a captain on the Women's Varsity Basketball Team, a Student Assistant Equipment Room Manager, and a member of Bomb Squad. In addition she is a migrant education tutor and a campus kitchen volunteer. Teal has worked in the Mathematics department and was named to the Dean's List.
