Scott Hartwig for a full-day tour of the Antietam battlefield! As we walk this historic landscape, we will explore some of the key moments in the fighting on September 17, discuss the diverse experiences of the soldiers who fought there, and learn, through the words of those who survived that day, how the soldiers sought to make meaning out of all that they had endured.

All attendees will receive a free copy of Mr. Hartwig’s new book, I Dread the Thought of The Place: The Battle of Antietam and the End of the Maryland Campaign (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2023). Boxed lunch and dinner at Lilah’s Restaurant in Shepherdstown, WV included.
