Work hard: #6 ‘Students Study the Most’ - The Princeton Review

Play hard: #2 ‘Everyone Plays Intramural Sports’ - The Princeton Review

Being active isn’t just for student-athletes—it’s for everyone. That’s why Gettysburg College is ranked second in the nation for “Everyone Plays Intramural Sports” by The Princeton Review. Here, students join teams in everything from beach volleyball and 3-on-3 basketball to inner tube water polo and pickleball. You’ll find yourself cheering on friends, trying something new, and feeling part of the larger campus community.

Work hard: 87% of students participate in internships or research

Among our Class of 2025, 87% completed an internship through the Center for Career Engagement or conducted hands-on research alongside faculty mentors through programs like the Cross Disciplinary Science Institute at Gettysburg (X-SIG). Supported by our powerful and far-reaching Gettysburg Network, these opportunities help students connect classroom learning with career goals and step confidently into what’s next.

Play hard: 67% winning percentage in athletics

Varsity athletics celebrated a new high during the 2024-2025 academic year with teams combining to win more than 67% of their contests. Three teams—women’s basketball, men’s golf, and women’s golf—claimed Centennial Conference championships, and a total of 11 athletic programs were represented at the NCAA Division III Championships. Gettysburg finished 29th in the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the College’s highest finish ever.

Play hard: 140+ campus organizations

Gettysburg students don’t just join clubs—they lead them. With more than 140 student organizations across campus, you’ll find opportunities to grow as a leader and make an impact, whether you’re planning events with the Campus Activities Board, volunteering through Gettysburg Service Collective, broadcasting on 91.1 WZBT radio, joining one of 16 different sororities and fraternities, or competing with the Ultimate Frisbee Club.
