Sukky Nd-Ezuma ’23 thrives at Gettysburg upon applying Early Decision

When Philadelphia native and basketball recruit Sukky Nd-Ezuma ’23 visited Gettysburg College while he was in high school, he met with Men’s Basketball Coach B.J. Dunne; toured the state-of-the-art John F. Jaeger Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Fitness; stopped at Glatfelter Hall, home to the Computer Science Department; and explored the Activities Fair.

“Right there, I knew that I would be taken care of if I committed,” said Nd-Ezuma, a computer science major and data science minor originally from Nigeria. “I realized that Gettysburg College provides exceptional resources to support all students with their needs.”

The welcoming environment at every corner on campus “electrified” him. He could see himself not only as a member of the basketball team, but also part of the Gettysburg College family.

“After my visit to Gettysburg College and seeing how uplifting the athletic program was and the prominent academics being offered, I made an instant decision to apply early,” he continued. “I believe the benefits of Early Decision are to give students a stress-free senior year in high school or prep school, figure out finances earlier, and have more time to make the right decision for your future.”

When Nd-Ezuma arrived on campus, he also got involved with the Black Student Union, became a Peer Learning Assistant in computer science, served as a community advisor in the Office of Residential Education, and worked in the equipment room and Jaeger Center.

In the summer of 2021, Nd-Ezuma completed a Digital Technology Fellowship with the Office of Information Technology. Looking back, he knew Early Decision was the right decision for him.
