Gettysburg College Trustee Troy Datcher ’90 was recently named to the 2020 EBONY Power 100, an honor that recognizes influential change agents, thought leaders, and titans of industry, including artists, business leaders, activists, and philanthropists.
Since its inception in 1945, EBONY Media has worked to celebrate, empower, and inspire Black excellence and triumphant achievements.
“Datcher’s unique talent, stellar accomplishments, and commitment to advancing Black culture worldwide has earned him the coveted distinction of being honored as one of the exclusive 2020 EBONY Power 100,” said Willard Jackson, Chairman and CEO of EBONY Media Operations. “This honor aligns with the founding vision of EBONY, rooted in our heritage of boldly showcasing individuals like Datcher—true portraits of courage and victorious pioneers whose lives and indelible mark on society will now become part of our storied legacy.”
Datcher currently serves as the Chief Customer Officer at the Clorox Company and as a member of The Clorox Foundation Board. EBONY also cited Datcher’s work on the Board of the East Oakland Youth Development Center as a contributing factor to his selection for the award. Datcher, a former political science major, is also a member of Gettysburg College’s Board of Trustees, where he is the chair of the Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee.
Updated April 17, 2020: Datcher was featured in episode 9 of Conversations Beneath the Cupola on how liberal arts provides a foundation for purpose and success.
