Gettysburg College ranked 3rd in the nation for alumni network

What does a strong alumni network look like?

It’s something that prospective students and their parents are increasingly wondering, as there is a direct correlation between an active alumni network and post-graduation career success.

These are also a few of the things that College Rank seeks to answer in its newest ranking, “The Best College Alumni Networks,” which ranked Gettysburg College third in the nation—behind Stanford University and Colgate University—for our active and global alumni network.

In particular, the College Rank cited our high-rate of young alumni job and graduate school placement one year after graduation, as well as the “integral role [alumni play] in mentoring students before graduation by offering everything from summer internships to career advice and on-campus networking receptions to undergraduates,” as factors considered for our ranking.

“A Gettysburg College education is an investment that’s proven to pay off time and time again,” said Barbara Fritze, Vice President of Enrollment and Educational Services. “While this ranking elevates that fact, there is no greater recognition for the value of a Gettysburg education than the accomplishments of our network, from our first-year students to our alumni, years after their graduation.”

Executive Director of the Center for Career Engagement Kathy Williams witnesses the strength of the Gettysburg network each day. She and her staff regularly connect with alums—over 27,000 on every continent and in every career field imaginable—in order to provide invaluable professional mentoring and other services to students.

“That is what the Gettysburg network is all about,” said Williams. “You have people all over the world who are available and willing to talk with you. They want to help. All you have to do is ask."

The College Rank is a web platform that strives to rank every aspect of campus life, because, according to their mission, “you never know what will make a difference once you begin your college journey.”
