Career Exploration Programs

Career Exploration opportunities help students to develop a better understanding of their interests and strengths and how those transfer into success after college.

Internships, externships, and other experiential programs engage students in a meaningful way in a professional workplace environment.

  • Job Shadowing

One-day experiences in which students shadow alumni or parent volunteers in the workplace as they go about their day's work. Offered over winter break; applications available every October.
  • Externships

Intensive, typically, one-week "deep dives" into a workplace environment, offering in-depth insight into job and life demands of a career in the student's field of interest. Offered in the summer; applications available every February.
  • Internships

Short-term work and learning experiences in a professional workplace environment. Typically part-time during the semester or part- or full-time in the summer.
  • Immersion Trips

Career Immersion Trips are three-day intensive career programs designed to give students an opportunity to learn and gain insight about various career fields.
  • Employer Interviews Sessions

Employers want to hire Gettysburg College students! The Center for Career Engagement facilitates employer engagement on campus through employer panels/speakers, meet & greets, networking events, information sessions, on-campus interviews, and virtual sessions.
