Favorite experience:
Honestly the entire abroad experience was so amazing, it's really hard to pick just one favorite. I think overall, my favorite thing was having a host mom with one of my friends from Gettysburg; the experience truly helped us in having a genuine sense of the Italian culture. Not to mention going on walks with my friends, simply just exploring the sites and seeing all the beauty everywhere!
What course/internship experience during your global study semester allowed you to learn something new and exciting?
The classes I took abroad aided me in learning so much. I took a Contemporary Italian Politics class, which was so fascinating! I learned a lot about the Italian parliament, especially having field studies in different spots around Rome. For example, we went to the Quirinale Palace, which is where the President of the Republic resides, and we got to see various original documents there during the tour.
How have your global studies related to one of the 7 Enduring Skills?
My study abroad experience supported me very well with adaptability. This experience was the first time I had ever flown by myself and internationally as well. I was very scared and nervous because I was alone, but it also helped me learn about myself. I realized that in order for me to grow as a person, I need to do things on my own. Once I was adjusted into Italy, I was ready to pursue those classes, adventures, and unforgettable moments. It really helped me having a friend within the same host family to branch out and meet new people together or even explore. Without study abroad, I wouldn't have developed the skills that I have now and have the experiences that I did, which I'll be forever grateful for.
