What is the International Gettysburgians Network?
The International Gettysburgians Network is a career mentorship program offered to the international student community. International Gettysburgians will have the opportunity to connect with international alumni who understand their experience and are excited to be a part of current students' career development. Students enrolled in the program are matched with at least one international alumnus/alumna.
What is it like to participate?
Mentors and mentees will be matched by Center for Career Engagement and International Student Center staff based on responses to a detailed survey. Participants can indicate interest and availability by number of matches, number of monthly interactions, career fields, topics, short-term vs. long-term mentoring, and preferred means of communication. Mentees will be required to complete a training in Moodle and attend an information session prior to reaching out to their mentor(s). Students and alumni will then be contacted with information about their match(es), but it is the students’ responsibility to reach out to the alumnus/a and initiate the first conversation. The program provides participants with expectations, guidelines, and suggestions to frame the first steps of the connection. Staff will be available for questions and feedback.
How and when can I apply to be a mentee?
For the Fall 2019 semester, students can apply by September 15th. Participation outside of the matching cycle will need to be reviewed on an individual basis.
How and when can I apply to serve as a mentor?
For the Fall 2019 semester, mentors can volunteer by September 15th. Outside of the matching cycle, interested alumni are encouraged to reach out to the program staff for more information.
