Bag It: Works by Lori Crawford

Exhibition details

Crawford's investigation into notions of race, identity and perceptions of beauty utilizes as its primary medium the brown paper bag, upon which the artist transfers digital portraits of women of various ethnicities from around the world. Based on traditions within the Black community which compared one's skin complexion to that of a brown bag, the Bag-It project extends the notion of racial bias to explore the more global phenomenon of discrimination towards women.
