Dear [student]:
Congress recently authorized additional educational support through the American Rescue Plan (ARP). After carefully reading the following information, please complete the survey linked below to request emergency grant funds.
Survey responses must be received no later than 11:59 pm ET on Sunday, October 10th for funding consideration. No late responses will be accepted.
ARP Student Emergency Grants
The American Rescue Plan (ARP), which was passed by Congress and signed into law in March 2021, provides Gettysburg College with funds to be distributed directly to eligible students in the form of emergency grants to be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to COVID-19, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
- Emergency relief funding is limited and the specific amount will be determined based on the number of survey responses received
- This is one-time funding for eligible students and is not renewable
- Emergency grants are not considered taxable income
Change to your Family’s Financial Situation
Please Note: Emergency relief funding is not considered financial aid and may not meet a student’s full financial need; however, if your or your family’s financial situation has changed significantly from what is reflected on your FAFSA, you may be eligible to have your financial aid adjusted. Please contact the financial aid office to review your change in financial circumstances. The college’s decision is final and cannot be appealed to the U.S. Department of Education.
Emergency Grant Eligibility
All currently enrolled Gettysburg College students who have applied for financial aid are eligible to request assistance.
How to Request Funds
Eligible students are receiving this email directly from the Financial Aid office and should complete and submit the survey by Sunday, October 10th to be included in the funding calculation.
Funding Amounts
A student who completes and returns the survey will receive an amount based on their official expected family contribution (EFC). Emergency relief funding is limited and the specific amount will be determined and emailed to you based on the number of survey responses received.
Distribution of Funds
Funds will be placed on the student’s Gettysburg College account. Students must indicate on the application if they would like the funds to remain on their student account to be applied to outstanding charges or if the funds should be refunded to them either via direct deposit or paper check via the Student Accounts refund process.
If you have not setup direct deposit through the Student Accounts office (separate from any information provided for student employment) you should follow the instructions here. If you are unsure if you have setup direct deposit you can review your setup for direct deposit by logging into Campus Experience and choosing Financials then Direct Deposit Set up.
The College anticipates disbursing funds no later than Friday, October 15th.
Please email the Student Accounts office (studentaccounts@gettysburg.edu) or the Financial Aid office by replying to this email with any questions.
