Gettysburg College has been named one of the country's most environmentally-responsible colleges according to The Princeton Review and will appear in the new resource for college applicants, "The Princeton Review's Guide to 286 Green Colleges."

Developed by The Princeton Review in partnership with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the guide is the first, free comprehensive guidebook focused solely on colleges and universities that have demonstrated a commitment to sustainability.

Gettysburg College was also named one of the top five institutions for sustainability reporting among the Top 50 U.S. liberal arts colleges and universities, as according to U.S. News and World Report, by the Roberts Environmental Center (REC) at Claremont McKenna College.

Gettysburg has been recognized for its heavy student involvement in sustainability, Campus Kitchen project, Painted Turtle Farm and Gold certification by the USGBC's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) of its new Center for Athletics, Recreation and Fitness.

The Princeton Review noted that another aspect of the guide is that it provides important information on schools that have dedicated environmental studies programs.
