Faculty Notebook Submissions due September 26, 2014 (PDF)

From:              Rob Bohrer, Associate Provost for Faculty Development

Subject:          Faculty Notebook Submissions due September 26, 2014

The Faculty Notebook is one of the main ways that the College publicizes the varied and extensive accomplishments of the campus community. It is distributed on campus and sent to prospective students, faculty and donors.

Please send me information about your recent accomplishments, particularly those that have occurred since the last issue of the Faculty Notebook appeared in April.  The deadline for submitting your entries is Friday, September 26, 2014.

Please fill out the form http://www.gettysburg.edu/library/services/forms/college_author/index.dot to let me know about your accomplishments.  Entries are divided into the categories of Publications, Reviews, Professional Papers and Presentations, Professional Activities, Professional Distinctions and Awards, and Creative Activities.

The Provost’s Office would like to maintain the uniform and professional appearance of the Faculty Notebook and to provide the information necessary for full bibliographic references.   Please include your full name used on publications and presentations (yes, even your middle initial unless your professional name doesn’t have one).  For publications, please include all of the information that would appear in a standard bibliographical entry, including volume number and pages.  For conferences, please submit information about the conference, including location and dates, along with the title of your presentation. Information about page numbers (for publications) or date and location (for presentations) is essential, so please remember to include it.  Entries should be fairly brief, but a sentence or two explaining the significance of the work to a lay audience would be welcome.

Fall 2014 Friday Faculty Luncheon Schedule*(PDF)

Friday Faculty Luncheon

September 26       12:00 - 1:00PM   CUB 260

Kathy Berenson,   Assistant Professor of Psychology

"Taking the bad with the good: Personality differences in perceptions of significant others".

People who readily integrate perceptions of significant others’ flaws with their more positive attributes maintain more stable, satisfying relationships. A reaction-time approach examined the processing of positive and negative information about significant others and foods in individuals reporting features of borderline or avoidant personality disorders and a self-reported asymptomatic group. Intriguing findings demonstrate core differences specific to the processing of valued relationships, and are an exciting basis for developing further research on interpersonal dysfunction in personality disorders and depression.

* A Light lunch is available on a first come, first serve basis.
