Snowfall blankets Gettysburg College campus in winter beauty

Approximately five inches of snow covered the Gettysburg College campus beginning the evening of Jan. 11.

By morning, the snow had stopped falling and a partly cloudy sky lent ever-changing light to the white that decked the College's historic buildings and grounds.

A photo gallery attempts to capture some of the campus's wintertime beauty following the new year's first significant accumulation of snow in the Gettysburg area.

Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with a strong academic tradition that includes Rhodes Scholars, a Nobel laureate and other distinguished scholars among its alumni. The college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students and is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.
