Kristin J. Stuempfle and Tim Shannon update the campus community about the strategic planning process for the month of December.
Dear Colleagues,
We are quickly approaching the conclusion of our fall semester! We have made remarkable progress on the development of Living Our Promise, the College’s new strategic plan. Many people across campus have worked extremely hard on the strategic plan this fall. On behalf of the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), we thank everyone who has engaged in this important process.
Before our community enters winter break, we wanted to share with you one more status update on our strategic planning process.
Our presentation at the December 2 faculty meeting emphasized that our strategic planning process—now more than a year underway—has been shaped by four guiding principles: the development of a robust, relevant, and integrated academic and co-curricular student experience; a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging; graduating students who are ready to make an impact; and improving our distinction, market position, and financial sustainability. These principles will continue to inform our thinking, approach, and decision-making in Spring 2022.
The Curriculum Review Committee (CRC) has distributed its report among the faculty for review. Discussion related to the proposed curriculum will begin among the full faculty beginning in January. The Integrated Learning Committee (ILC) submitted its final report to the Strategic Planning Committee. Currently, the SPC is in the process of deliberating on the recommendations brought forward by the ILC and determining the initiatives to elevate. There will be opportunities for community feedback on the draft strategic plan in the new year. We will take the feedback from the community, as well as from the Board of Trustees, and present a final version of the strategic plan for the Board’s vote later in the spring.
