Pittsburgh Summer Undergraduate Research Program
University of Pittsburgh's Medical Scientist Training Program is a 10-week summer research and professional development program for disadvantaged and underrepresented minority students interested in careers as physician scientists. The program is designed for students in their freshman, sophomore or junior years of college.

American Society for Microbiology
The American Society for Microbiology's Microbiology Undergraduate Research Fellowship program is a 10 to 12 week summer program for students from underrepresented and historically excluded groups to conduct microbiology-related research with an ASM member at a sponsoring institution.

Association of American Medical Colleges
The Association of American Medical Colleges offers a Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (MMEP), designed to help promising, highly motivated freshman and sophomore college students with intensive and personalized medical and dental school preparation.

University of Michigan
Many hospitals, community based organizations, and other healthcare organizations in the Detroit-Flint-Ann Arbor area offer summer internships focusing in disparities in minority health. These internships are part of the University of Michigan's Summer Enrichment Program in Health Administration.

Kaiser Foundation/Howard University
The Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program brings talented college seniors and recent graduates to Washington, DC to learn about health policy issues. These scholars work in congressional offices, participate in seminars and site visits, and write/present health policy research.

Cornell University
Cornell University's Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences offers an internship program to under-represented minority students who are interested in getting a Ph.D. degree and who have excelled in their freshmen, sophomore, or junior years in college.

Emory University
The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURE) at Emory University offers the opportunity for undergraduate students to work with faculty mentors in the conducting of scientific research. The program is sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, based in Chevy Chase, MD.

University of Wisconsin/Madison
The Great Lakes Water Institute offers summer internships for undergraduate students. The program includes laboratory and field training in aquatic science (including lake and ocean systems) with extensive shipboard field research opportunities.

Harvard University
The Division of Medical Sciences offers a Summer Undergraduate Research Program primarily for college students belonging to groups that are under-represented in the sciences. The ten-week program is part of the Leadership Alliance of 33 universities and colleges dedicated to improving the participation of historically underrepresented students in graduate education programs.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
Based in Seattle, WA, the not-for-profit Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center offers a summer research program for undergraduate students between their junior and senior years of studies.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Based on the coast of Massachusetts, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute offers 10-12 week Undergraduate Fellowships for Minorities during the summer.

National Institutes of Health
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers a Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research. In addition, NIH's National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities supports scientific training programs through the Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training (MHIRT) Grant Program.

New York University
The New York University School of Medicine sponsors a Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) open to students from any U.S. college or university. The NYU School of Medicine is committed to increasing the number of students from underrepresented groups in the biomedical sciences.

State of Texas
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality offers the Mickey Leland Environmental Internship Program. The program provides summer internship opportunities for minority students pursuing environmental, engineering, science-related, and public administration careers at colleges and universities across the United States.

Tufts University
Tufts University's Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences in Boston, offers a summer research program in biomedical science for minority undergraduate students.The Building Diversity in Biomedical Sciences (BDBS) Program provides a mentored, 10-week research intensive experience for undergraduates who are interested in pursuing PhD or MD/PhD training upon completion of the baccalaureate degree. Research is available in fields of biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, pathogenesis, physiology, public health, and virology.

University of Massachusetts
The University of Massachusetts Medical School offers a College Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for undergraduate sophomores and juniors interested in entering the health professions. The program includes enrichment activities to enhance participants' academic and communication skills in order to improve their qualifications and competitive standing for admission to professional, graduate and/or medical school.

University of South Carolina
The Department of Biological Sciences of the University of South Carolina offers an undergraduate summer research program in integrative evolutionary biology. This program is for undergraduate students interested in gaining a hands-on experience in research in evolutionary biology; students from underrepresented groups and smaller undergraduate institutions are especially encouraged to apply.

Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt offers its Minority Summer Research Program to students who are members of federally recognized groups as underrepresented in the sciences. Students work in laboratory of an outstanding scientist at Vanderbilt University.
