While working as a volunteer researcher in LabLeish in Teresina, Piaui, Andeulazia realized she wanted to pursue medicine after observing an incredibly intimate interaction between physician and patient.

Andeulazia’s Top Tip for Preparing for Graduate School

Andeulazia suggests taking your time but staying focused when making your way to the next step, a gap year and 'unrelated' experiences are incredibly important in forming your personal story that encapsulates your personal motivations. She talked about her time as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Brazil more than anything during all of Andeulazia’s interviews. Because it was such a formative experience, it provided even more insight into why she wanted to pursue medicine.

Final Words of Wisdom

A successful medical school application cycle (apart from grades and MCAT), involves a lot of planning, preparation and especially organization. Katy was a wonderful resource for helping me make a plan. Don't underestimate the power of the planner and a good Excel sheet!
