Captain Michael D. Scotton (1982) Award
Established by David R. and Sally R. Scotton, parents of Michael D. Scotton, to be awarded to a junior who demonstrates a high degree of extracurricular activity and diligence in his or her academic work.

Senior Scholarship Prize
Established by the Class of 1996 and Mr. Robert Stockberger ’33, to be presented annually to two rising seniors who best exemplify Gettysburg College through academics and service to the campus community. The Senior Scholarship Prize Fund is augmented with future senior class gifts.

Service Award in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
Given to a senior major for outstanding service exemplifying Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies ideals.

Shaffer Prize in Classical Studies
Established from funds of the estate of Mary M. Shaffer, to be awarded in memory of Dr. William Frederick Shaffer, Franklin Professor of Greek, 1946–62, to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and promise in Greek, Latin, or Classics.

Sigma Alpha Iota Collegiate Honor Award

Given to an active, dues-paying SAI graduating senior who has made significant contributions to both their chapter and school. In this selection process, we should like to recognize an SAI member who has demonstrated outstanding musicianship, scholarship, and service to the local chapter.

Sigma Alpha Iota Scholastic Award
Given to the active, dues-paying graduating senior member of the College's SAI chapter with the highest grade point average.

Silent Leader Award
Given in memory of Emily Silverstein ’11, a passionate member of the campus community and a fervent advocate for peace, the silent Leader Award is presented annually to a student who demonstrates exceptional and sustained dedication to enacting change through service.

Stine Chemistry Prize

Created by Dr. Charles M. A. Stine, to be awarded to a senior chemistry major on the basis of grades in chemistry, laboratory technique, personality, general improvement in four years, and proficiency in chemistry at the time of selection.

Earl Kresge Stock Writing Prizes

Established by Earl Kresge Stock, to be awarded to the three students who write the classroom papers judged best in the areas of the humanities, the sciences, and the social sciences.

Dr. George W. Stoner Award
Awarded to a worthy male senior accepted by a recognized medical college.

Student Life Committee Award

A citation is awarded to a student in recognition of the quiet influence they have exerted for the improvement of the campus community.

Tarek A. Tannous Memorial Award
Established by Jana W. Jackle, Class of 1997, in memory of Tarek A. Tannous, a member of the Class of 1996, presented to a student whose insight into global issues, interest in human nature, or passion for philosophical discourse is an inspiration to others.

Samuel P. Weaver Scholarship Prizes

Established by Samuel P. Weaver, to be awarded to the two students writing the best essays on an assigned topic in the field of constitutional law and government.

Linda Y. Welsh Prize for Excellence in Education
Established by Stephen M. Welsh in memory of his mother, presented to the student, selected by the faculty of the Department of Education, who is an Education minor of high academic ability who is pursuing the necessary requirements to earn a teaching certification and who has made positive contributions to the College community and/or the Gettysburg community.

The Dean Frank B. Williams Memorial Prize
Established by Suzanne H. Williams '62, family, and friends, in memory of Frank B. Williams; the Prize is presented annually to a junior or senior student, selected by a representative of the College Life Division. The student must have exceptional leadership in student affairs, strength of character, integrity, be compassionate to other students, and have made positive contributions to the college community and/or the Gettysburg community.

Robert F. Zellner Music Education Award
Established by faculty, alumni, and students of the Music Department to honor Robert Zellner’s distinguished teaching career at Gettysburg College. The award is presented to a senior music education major who has demonstrated musical and academic excellence and a commitment to arts education.

Earl E. Ziegler Junior Mathematics Award
Created by Phi Delta Theta alumni, to be given in honor of Earl E. Ziegler, associate professor of mathematics at Gettysburg College from 1935- 1968. Awarded to the mathematics major who has the highest average in mathematics through the junior year.

Earl E. Ziegler Senior Mathematics Award
Created by Earl E. Ziegler, associate professor of mathematics at Gettysburg College from 1935- 1968, to be awarded to the mathematics major who has achieved the highest average in mathematics through the senior year.

Edwin and Leander M. Zimmerman Senior Prize:
Awarded to the senior whose character, influence on students, and scholarship have contributed most to the welfare of the College.

John B. Zinn Chemistry Research Award

Created by Frances and John Zinn in honor of John B. Zinn '09, who was professor of chemistry at the College from 1924-1959. Awarded to the senior making the greatest contributions in their own research in chemistry and to the research activities of the Department of Chemistry.
