Cinema and Media Studies Major Jobs and Graduate School Acceptances

Christopher Singleton, Jr.

Christopher Singleton, Jr. '24
Admissions Counselor, Georgetown Preparatory School

On the football field, Singleton led by example with his play and determination. He served as a team captain for two seasons, led the team in sacks as a senior, and broke the career blocked kick record for the conference. Away from the gridiron, Singleton expanded his creative skills as a cinema and media studies major, discovering and refining his voice through writing and video production under the guidance of faculty mentors like Interdisciplinary Studies Prof. Jim Udden. He was also a peer learning associate for video production and a member of the Diaspora House. “Being put in leadership position all across campus allowed me to expand on my leadership skills,” Singleton said. “Moreover, learning my own attributes and skills as a leader helped me reach a broad range of people and represented the hard work ethic it takes to be successful.” Singleton will head back to his high school alma mater, Georgetown Preparatory School, to serve as an admissions counselor following graduation from Gettysburg.

Zion Williams

Zion Williams '24
Master's in Journalism, University of Maryland

A cinema and media studies major and Spanish and writing double minor, Williams embarked on a journey of discovery at Gettysburg. He was a four-year member of the Gettysburg men’s soccer team and helped the team earn a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2021. While his time on the soccer pitch helped him refine his teamwork and leadership skills, he gained valuable knowledge and hands-on learning as a student assistant in the Office of Athletic Communications and as a sports writer for The Gettysburgian. “I decided to attend Gettysburg College because it presented the opportunity to become a part of the perfect environment for me,” Williams said. “It allowed me to continue my passion and complete my longtime goal of playing soccer at a competitive college level, while also studying at a rigorous academic institution that offered me the opportunity to explore a variety of interests.” Williams will attend the University of Maryland, where he will pursue a master’s in journalism with a sports specialization.
