About the Donor
William C. Wright, Class of 1961, was a longtime friend of Musselman Library. He donated his substantial collection of Civil War books and related materials to the library. Additionally and established an endowment to support Special Collections activities and purchases.
Wright is remembered professionally for his role as a public historian. He worked as the associate director of the New Jersey Historical Commission, and served for more than a decade as the state archivist of New Jersey.
Wright passed away on March 11, 2021. His visits to Gettysburg College were always times of good fellowship, and the exchange of information about what might be “out there” that Special Collections might need or want. He was a philanthropist in the truest sense.
