Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the end of the academic year, I’m writing to share a few pertinent summer updates with you. Please take a moment to review the information below and mark your calendars.
- Additional Day Off – We are excited to announce that all employees will enjoy an additional day off this summer. We will be closed on Thursday, July 2, giving you a long holiday weekend ahead of Independence Day (July 3 is already a scheduled College holiday). Please code this day as a floating holiday (FH) on your timesheet. Employees in offices or departments that are unable to take July 2 off will have the flexibility to use their floating holiday at any point before Wednesday, September 30.
- Summer Flexible Work Policy – We are pleased to share that we are resuming our Summer Flexible Work Policy for eligible employees. This initiative allows for the compression of work schedules into a 4- or 4.5-day workweek over the summer, beginning Monday, June 8, and continuing through Friday, August 7. Further details are available on the Human Resources website.
- Employee Enrichment Program – Employee Enrichment Day is scheduled for Thursday, August 6. We will host an Employee Appreciation Lunch catered by Mission BBQ on the Bullet Hole area from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Please save the day on your calendar! Our enrichment programming is open to every Gettysburg employee, and we invite you to join us. We expect the program to open for registrations in mid-June. More to come soon!
- 2026-2027 Holiday Schedule – The full holiday schedule for the upcoming academic year is now available. Please be sure to review it and plan accordingly.
Once again, thank you for all that you do for Gettysburg College. Your dedication, care, and teamwork make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and fellow employees. I’m deeply grateful for your many contributions to our campus and I look forward to all that next year will have in store for our community.
Have a wonderful summer!
With gratitude,
Jen Lucas
