Thanksgiving holiday announcement

October 28, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

I want to take this opportunity to simply say thank you. Like institutions across the country, Gettysburg College is actively building its future. From implementing the work that came out of our strategic planning committees to our comprehensive review of the curriculum to our Middle States accreditation process, and so much more, we have bold ambitions for the education we will provide in the years to come.

Yet, as we race toward these ambitions, we likewise recognize the responsibilities we have to deliver today’s Gettysburg students with a top-tier educational experience. I understand the significant lift this represents for every member of this community, to balance our present with our future. You have done so with thoughtfulness and grace.

As a gesture of appreciation for all you continue to do for Gettysburg College and our students, I am pleased to announce that we will extend the Thanksgiving holiday by an additional day to include Wednesday, November 23, as a floating holiday. Administrative and support staff who work in offices or departments that do not have the flexibility to close that Wednesday will have an extra day off to use as leave time before May 31, 2023. Please take this time to rest and recharge alongside your loved ones.

Again, I am deeply grateful for your commitment to a Gettysburg education. We are better for all you do for our community!

Best,

Bob
