April 24, 2025
I’m writing to invite you to join a working meeting on Tuesday, April 29, from 4 - 5 p.m. in the CUB Ballroom, where we will come together as an employee community to discuss and shape the future direction of Gettysburg College.
Over the past year, faculty, staff, trustees, and students have been exploring transformational ideas aimed at ensuring Gettysburg College is distinctively positioned in an increasingly competitive landscape. These early-stage efforts, known internally as Gettysburg 2.0, have focused on thinking boldly to strengthen our market position, increase demand, and—most importantly—prepare our students for lives of meaning and consequence.
This work has encouraged ambitious thinking, guided by a simple but essential question: how can we build on our strengths and ensure Gettysburg thrives in the decades ahead? While much attention this year has rightly been given to advancing our strategic plan, Living Our Promise, Gettysburg 2.0 is seeking more transformational change to consider how the College might evolve in the face of shifting demographics and prospective student behavior.
At this meeting, we will:
- Share the ideas generated to date and the insights we’ve gathered from across our community.
- Provide context on why this work matters and where it fits within our broader strategic goals.
- Invite you to share your perspectives and help shape the next phase of this effort.
Please note: this will be a working meeting. While we will open with a brief presentation, our primary focus will be on idea generation and engaging in an active discussion.
Your voice is critical as we take these next steps forward. I hope you will join us for what promises to be an informative and collaborative session.
With gratitude,
Bob
