41st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

January 9, 2023

Dear Campus Community,

I hope you’ve enjoyed a restful winter break with family and friends. One week from today, our full community will be reunited for the start of a new semester. I look forward to all we will accomplish together this spring—in the classrooms, on the playing fields, in the workplaces, and in the many other areas and ways that define this community.

I invite you to begin your semester by attending a special event, From The Mountaintop: The 41st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 16 from 7 - 8 p.m. at Christ Chapel.

The ceremony will feature a keynote discussion led by Gettysburg Mayor Rita Frealing and Taurean (Tory) Moses, the first African American member of the Adams County Bar Association, where he currently serves as vice president. The event will also showcase the musical talents of the Biglerville High School Jazz Band, the Brownsville Church of God Worship Team, and the Gettysburg Children’s Choir and Chamber Chorale.

Following the event, our community will process to the College Union Building, where every Gettysburgian will be encouraged to add a cherry blossom “dream” to a mural display. It is sure to be an inspiring celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King, as well as a powerful reminder of the unfinished work still ahead. Please join us.

Sincerely,

Bob Iuliano
President
