Dear Members of the Gettysburg College Community,
I am writing to follow up on the announcement earlier this week about Julie Ramsey’s decision to retire after 40 years of remarkable service to the College. I noted in the announcement that I would speak soon about the leadership of College Life.
Effective January 1, Julie’s long-time number two, Jeff Foster, will serve as Interim Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students pending the outcome of a national search that we will soon undertake. Jeff has been at Gettysburg for 18 years, all in College Life. He is widely respected, deeply experienced, and, like Julie, completely committed to the students and the quality of their overall experience. I am grateful for Jeff’s willingness to serve in this interim role, especially at this challenging time when continuity is essential.
The nature of this community is reflected by the determination of its members to respond to calls for service. Please join me in thanking Jeff for his exemplary contributions to the College and his willingness without hesitation to step forward.
