One Gettysburg Community

February 4, 2025

Dear Campus Community,

Following the racial incident in the fall, the College committed to further advancing its efforts to create one Gettysburg community—a place where every member, regardless of their identities and beliefs, has the fullest opportunity to thrive.

In response to some of the themes that emerged from campus meetings after the incident, and as part of our Conversations for Change program, the College partnered with Jason Craige Harris of the Perception Institute to lead us through a series of programs focused on race, identity, accountability, and repair—the very issues highlighted in the campus meetings.

In November, Session 1 was a campus-wide dialogue that gathered students, faculty, and staff to both hear an update from senior leadership on action steps the College is taking to improve campus culture and climate and to participate in small group conversations on the transformative power of belonging and the persistent influence of racial othering in our world.

Today, I am writing to provide information on our remaining three sessions. Each session will be led by Jason, and they will provide tailored dialogue to different experiences. The final session will bring participants together for a cross-group conversation.

    • Session 2 | February 25, 4 - 5:30 p.m., Atrium: For anyone who has had a personal lived experience of prejudice or discrimination based on race and wants things to change.
    • Session 3 | March 18, 4 - 5:30 p.m., CUB Ballroom: For those who do not have personal lived experiences of prejudice or discrimination based on race but want to be part of the change.
    • Session 4 | April 22, 4 - 5:30 p.m., CUB Ballroom: For those who have participated in either Session 2 or 3.

More information about these events can be found on the Conversations for Change website.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support on these pressing issues.

Sincerely,

Bob Iuliano
President
