What to do for cases where there are multiple chairs/supervisors, or multiple applicants for a single project.
What if I have multiple chairs/supervisors who need to review my proposal?
The new PeopleSoft tool for submitting applications for grants is currently limited to a single chair/supervisor.
This will be remedied in a future version of the tool, but in the meantime we will use a process similar to the old recommendation system for supporting applications.
In your application, where it asks to specify your chair/program coordinator/administrator, choose the chair most closely aligned to the topic of your proposal.
For other recommenders, give them the PDF version of your proposal and ask them to write in the manner that they would have previously. Here are their instructions, which you should give to them.
“Briefly comment on the merits of this proposal, the purpose(s) for which any departmental funds are intended, and the appropriateness of the proposed budget. If you have any additional information that would be helpful to the committee in its deliberations, please include it. Your commentary can be brief (e.g., paragraph). Your comments are important to the committee’s evaluation of the project, and the members of the committee appreciate your efforts to complete this form.”
They should send their completed letter to Kara Flythe (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Provost's office before the deadline. You will need to inform them of the deadline date, with any reminders they may need.
What if I am applying with one (or more) colleagues?
The new PeopleSoft tool for submitting applications for grants is currently limited to a single applicant.
This will be remedied in a future version of the tool, but in the meantime only one of the applicants will apply using the Peoplesoft tool (enter your chair/supervisor). In the last box of the application where it reads “Please include any additional information that the committee might need to evaluate your proposal”, enter the name of your co-applicant and their chair/supervisor. After you have submitted and locked your application, send your co-applicant(s) the PDF version of your proposal. Your co-applicant(s) will be contacted by Kara Flythe (email@example.com) in the Provost's office for further instructions.
