IV. Electives: Two additional courses: one may include one 100-level course (Eng 111, 112, 113, CLA 103, or designated First Year Seminar in literature); one may include one English 200-level writing course or one may be an academic year internship or individualized study (not both).

NOTE: Three of these eleven courses must focus on literature before 1900. Two of the three must focus on literature before 1800. One course must focus on literature after 1900.

NOTE: One 200-, 300-, or 400-level course that focuses on literatures of diversity must meet the Conceptualizing Diversity and/or Global Understanding requirement of the college.

NOTE: One literature course taken outside of the English Department may count toward the major (with your academic advisors permission).

NOTE: May not include Advanced Placement credits and/or IB credits.

*STUDY ABROAD: May include two courses (one 200- and one 300-level literature; or one 300-level literature and one 300-level writing) from a semester program abroad may count toward the major. A third course (200- or 300-level) from a full-year program abroad may count.
