Religious Studies Minor

Check Sheet

Six courses are required for the minor.
Students are encouraged to take REL 101 to explore different religious traditions.

Four Courses in Religion

  • 4 courses within the Religious Studies department
  • 1 course may be taken outside the Religious Studies department but not in the student’s major. Choose from AFS 250 Topic: Vodou in Haiti and the Diaspora, ANTH 227, ARTH 220, CLA 230, ENG 312, GRK 204, 304, HIST 208, 253, 278, 311, 313, IDS 214, 228, 238, 264, 267, 306, 331, PHIL 206, 237, 240, 329, 332, SOC 205 or others with permission of department.
  • Limit of 2 100-level courses. May include FYS 150 or 192-3

One 200-level Course in Religion

  • 1 course at the 200-level within the Religious Studies department.

One 300-level Course in Religion

  • 1 course at the 300-level or 400-level within the Religious Studies department.

Notes:

  • Students may petition the department to apply additional courses to the minor that are taught in a Religious Studies Department (at other US institutions, or at study abroad programs). Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. To petition for department approval, the student should email the department chairperson with their request as soon as possible.
