Studying abroad/off-campus during the fall semester
Students who will be studying abroad or off campus during the Fall 2026 semester will be assigned a housing lottery number along with the rest of the student population in April. This lottery number will be used to assign housing for the Spring 2027 semester.
Students who decide not to study abroad during Fall 2026 must notify the Center for Global Education (CGE) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 in order to be included in the online housing selection process, which will take place on Sunday, April 26.
Spring 2027 Housing
- Living off-campus and Independent Living Community (ILC) Housing
Students who plan to study abroad or off campus during Fall 2026 and wish to live in an off-campus apartment or ILC housing upon returning for the spring must participate in the Off-Campus / ILC approval process, which occurs in February of Spring 2026. - Greek Housing
Students who are members of Greek fraternities should review their organization’s residency requirements before pursuing alternative housing options. - Disability Accommodations for Housing
The Office of Residential Education (Res Ed) will make every effort to accommodate students returning from abroad or off-campus study who have approved disability housing accommodations. However, due to housing availability, all student preferences may not be able to be met when finding appropriate accommodations. - College Houses
Students interested in living in a college house for Spring 2027 must participate in the College House application process in March 2026. Questions about specific houses should be directed to the appropriate College House leader. - Spring Housing Preference Form and Placements for Spring 2027
All students returning from studying abroad or off campus will be required to complete a "Spring Housing Preference Form." This form will be emailed in October 2026 and must be submitted to Res Ed by Monday, October 26.
Housing assignments will be finalized during the week of January 11, 2027. Once assignments are complete, students will receive an email and may view their housing placement through MyHousing in CNAV.
Important Notes: - Before completing the preference form, review the Housing Rates and Dining Plan webpages before submitting your preference form to understand associated costs and requirements.
- Single rooms are unlikely to be available for Spring 2027. Any available singles will be prioritized for students with approved disability accommodations requiring a single room.
- While Residential Education will work diligently to place students with approved accommodations, limited availability may result in waitlists.
- Fully vacant apartments are extremely rare; please keep this in mind when selecting preferences.
- Returning students will initially be billed at the Plan 2 – Apartment Rate in November. Charges will be adjusted, if necessary, once housing assignments are finalized.
Housing Preference Form Options
OPTION 1: Requesting a Specific Room or Apartment
- Students who are aware of a vacancy in an on-campus room or apartment may request that space for the spring semester.
- At least one resident from the fall semester must remain in the space; fully vacant rooms or apartments cannot be requested.
