One Billion Rising

One Billion Rising is a global campaign to end violence against women, rise for justice, and promote gender equality. The "billion" refers to the UN statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in their lifetime, or about one billion women. Every year, we rise to mobilize in solidarity against all forms of violence in our community. Everyone is welcome to this empowering event of intersectional feminist advocacy activities sponsored by the Women’s Center. Co-sponsored with the Office of Sexual Respect and Title IX.

All are invited to an evening of diverse, empowering, intersectional feminist storytelling with original pieces performed by Gettysburg College students who are self-identifying women and gender non-conforming individuals. Ticket purchase required. Proceeds from tickets & t-shirt sales will be donated to charity.

Tickets and merchandise will be sold at CUB tables daily from 11am-1pm from February 11th through February 22nd and at the door on show nights. Information about how to pay with a Student Account or online with a credit card will be posted in January/February.

The Women’s Center invites all campus members to take a stand against sexual violence and mobilize support for survivors of sexual violence in our community. Meet in CUB 260 to hear from various campus speakers and participate in a solidarity march to the campus Peace Pole for survivor speak-outs and spoken word. Co-sponsored with the Office of Sexual Respect and Title IX and Peace and Justice Studies.
