Information regarding belonging retrieval

Message sent May 13, 2020

Danielle Phillips, Director of Residential & First Year Programs, informs students about the options available to them for retrieving their belongings from campus.

Dear Students,

I hope that this letter finds you well and having successfully wrapped up the semester of remote learning. This email follows the note from Dean Ramsey regarding the retrieval of any belongings that you may still have on campus. If you were able to take your belongings with you and return your key(s) when you left, you may disregard this message.

If you have removed all of your belongings from campus, but still have your residence hall key(s), please mail your key(s) in a padded envelope to the college as soon as it is safe for you to do so at the following address:

Residential & First-Year Programs
300 N. Washington Street
Box 430
Gettysburg, PA 17325

If you need to retrieve belongings from campus, there are a number of options available for you to do so. These options include the following:

  1. You may return to campus to pack up your belongings. This is the preferred option and we encourage everyone that can do so to come to campus and retrieve all of your belongings. Please note that your return to campus is at your own expense.
  2. You may designate someone to come to campus and pack up your belongings on your behalf.

If you cannot retrieve your belongings (or have someone retrieve them for you) by June 6, you have two additional options:

  1. You may request that the College pack and store your belongings for you until you return to campus this fall at no financial cost to you.
  2. You may work with a moving company approved by the College to have your belongings packed and stored or shipped to you by the moving company at your expense.

Please complete this form to select your preferred option. This form will need to be completed by Sunday, May 17 so that we can begin to plan for the move-out process which will occur from Monday, May 18 until Saturday, June 6.

For those who will be returning to campus or having someone coming to campus on your behalf, you will need to acknowledge a number of instructions and restrictions when completing the form so that we can ensure a safe and efficient move out process for everyone involved.

After submitting the form, you will wait for a call from a Residential & First-Year Programs staff member to schedule your move-out date and time. You will receive this call within 48 hours of submitting your form. We will be working closely with you in order to carefully manage the timing of each student’s return so that we can maintain proper social distancing in the residence halls during move out.

If you have any questions at this time, please contact Residential & First-Year Programs at residencelife@gettysburg.edu.

Thank you.
Danielle
